GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba (AP) - Military prosecutors at this U.S. naval base geared up Tuesday for hearings for a Canadian teenager accused of killing a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan, while his defense attorney called the process a "sham."
 
Jailed priest in Haiti gets treatment

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) - A jailed Roman Catholic priest, whose supporters say is suffering from cancer and should be released for treatment in the United States, was taken from his jail cell Tuesday to a medical testing laboratory in the capital.
 
Chavez: Venezuela may not buy U.S. jets

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - President Hugo Chavez said Tuesday that Venezuela would consider buying Russian or Chinese warplanes if the United States fails to honor a contract to supply his country with parts for its F-16 jets.
 
Peru prohibits Fujimori from running again

LIMA, Peru (AP) - Peru's election board on Tuesday barred Alberto Fujimori from running in an April election as the jailed former president fought efforts by Peruvian prosecutors to have him extradited from Chile on charges of rights violations and corruption.
