Ecuador names temporary defense chief

QUITO, Ecuador (AP) - Economy Minister Ricardo Patino has temporarily taken over as defense minister until the president fills the position following the death of Guadalupe Larriva in a helicopter accident, a Defense Ministry statement said Sunday.
