SAN JUAN DE SABINAS, Mexico (AP) - Using picks, shovels and even their hands, hundreds of coal miners have worked around the clock for a year to recover the bodies of 65 co-workers lost in an explosion. So far, frustrated searchers have only found two.

MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) - Former Nicaraguan President Arnoldo Aleman acknowledged for the first time Saturday that he spent $1.8 million in government money on jewelry and meals, mostly while he was abroad seeking aid following the devastation of Hurricane Mitch in 1998.
