Human rights report faults Latin America

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Corruption, detainee abuse and deplorable prison conditions were a problem throughout much of Latin America last year, the U.S. State Department said Tuesday, singling out Venezuela and Cuba for having the worst human rights records in the region.
 
Experts to Paraguay for dengue outbreak

ASUNCION, Paraguay (AP) - Health workers from France, Argentina, Brazil and Cuba have joined their Paraguayan counterparts in battling an outbreak of dengue that has claimed 10 lives this year, Health Minister Oscar Martinez said Tuesday.
 
Guatemalan police purge ordered

GUATEMALA CITY (AP) - Guatemala's president on Tuesday ordered the national police to clean out corrupt officers and upgrade training after six members of the force were accused of killing three Central American Parliament members.
 
Calderon vows to restore Mexico's appeal
