Brazilian lawmaker Carneiro dies at 68

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) - Eneas Carneiro, a three-time presidential candidate who was later elected to Congress with the largest number of votes ever received by a Brazilian lawmaker, died Sunday of leukemia, according to Congress' Web site. He was 68.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - Police in the Turks and Caicos scaled back their search for more than 40 missing Haitian migrants on Sunday, assigning a single vessel to scan the Caribbean waters where the crowded sailboat capsized two days earlier.

Deep quake shakes central Colombia

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) - An earthquake deep below the Andean ridge shook central Colombia just before midnight on Saturday. Buildings in Bogota rattled for several seconds but no damage or injuries were reported.
