Small plane crash in Costa Rica kills six

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (AP) - Costa Rican authorities on Saturday reported a small plane piloted by the son of a former owner of the San Jose, Calif., Sharks hockey team crashed off the Pacific coast, killing six people. No survivors were reported.

Powerful Hurricane Emily aims for Yucatan

BULL BAY, Jamaica (AP) - Fishermen dragged skiffs to shore and surfers rode enormous waves as Hurricane Emily's winds strengthened Saturday to 155 mph, passing south of Jamaica and on track to make a direct hit at Mexico's Yucatan peninsula.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) - A U.S.-backed advisory council that oversees Haiti's interim government recommended Saturday that ousted President Jean-Bertrand Aristide's political party be barred from upcoming elections, accusing the party of encouraging violence.
