Peru ex-spymaster sentenced to 20 years

CALLAO, Peru (AP) - Former Peruvian spymaster Vladimiro Montesinos was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday for masterminding a deal that parachute-dropped 10,000 assault rifles to Colombian leftist guerrillas seven years ago.

Cuban official expects Castro's return

NEW YORK (AP) - Cuba's foreign minister said Thursday he expects Fidel Castro to be fully back at the helm by early December and urged U.S. intelligence chiefs to tear up their post-Castro scenario because his illness demonstrated Cubans' strong support for their government.
