CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - President Hugo Chavez won re-election by a wide margin Sunday, giving the firebrand leftist six more years to redistribute Venezuela's vast oil wealth to the poor and press his campaign to counter U.S. influence in Latin America and beyond.

Pinochet improving after heart attack

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) - Gen. Augusto Pinochet, whose 17-year dictatorship carried out thousands of political killings and widespread torture, was fighting for his life in a Chilean hospital Sunday after suffering a heart attack. But doctors said his condition was improving after an emergency procedure to restore blood flow to his heart.
