North Korea: Nuclear 'agreement' reached

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North Korea said Friday that it had reached an agreement with the U.S. during direct talks with Washington's main nuclear envoy this week in Germany, but the top American envoy said it had yet to be seen whether progress could be made at six-nation disarmament negotiations.

Former Nepal rebels begin giving up arms

KATMANDU, Nepal (AP) - U.N. monitors have begun collecting weapons from former Maoist rebels at two large camps in south Nepal and were expected to expand their efforts to all seven of the main camps by next week, officials said Thursday.
