Hearings set on recall of Taiwan president

Suspected militants killed in Afghanistan

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) - Security forces raided a southern Afghan village and killed 15 suspected militants, including a relative of Taliban leader Mullah Omar, while fighting and attacks elsewhere left 25 people dead, an army general said Monday.

Japanese volcano expected to erupt again

TOKYO (AP) - Japan's weather ministry on Monday warned of further eruptions at a volcano in the south of the country, saying volcanic activity had intensified at one of its vents. The Showa vent on Mount Sakurajima erupted several times last week, spewing a plume of smoke more than 3,000 feet into the air. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
