U.N. vote on N. Korea sanctions delayed

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Supporters of a Security Council resolution that would impose sanctions on North Korea agreed to delay a vote in the hope that China can pressure Pyongyang to return to talks on nuclear disarmament and halt missile tests, U.S. officials said Monday.

Although initially reported as a success by officials, the Agni III missile plunged into the Bay of Bengal short of its target, Defense Pranab Mukherjee told reporters late Sunday.
