U.N. creates N.Korea sanctions list

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The U.N. Security Council agreed Wednesday on a list of banned items that could be used to make nuclear, chemical and biological weapons or ballistic missiles and ordered all countries to prevent North Korea from importing or exporting the items.

North Korea wants bank accounts unfrozen

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North Korea said Wednesday it would return to nuclear disarmament talks in an effort to get access to frozen overseas bank accounts, a vital source of hard currency for the impoverished and isolated communist nation.

Pakistan defends deadly attack on school

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - Pakistan's military defended its deadly missile strike on an Islamic school, saying Wednesday it was necessary to prevent terrorist trainees from escaping. Critics said the government used disproportionate force in the attack, which killed 80 people.
