Bush hailing Mongolia for support on Iraq

ULAN BATOR, Mongolia (AP) - In the wake of congressional unrest over his war policies, President Bush thanked Mongolia on Monday for standing with him in Iraq and compared the struggle against Islamic radicalism to this country's battle against communism.

Quake survivors ponder impact of new aid

MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan (AP) - Rab Nawas survived South Asia's devastating quake because he was outside when his roof crumbled. Many of the cattle on his farm were not so lucky, killed in landslides that ruined his terraced land on a Kashmir mountainside.

Putin to avoid land spat on Japan visit

TOKYO (AP) - Russian President Vladimir Putin started a three-day visit to Japan on Sunday but it appears unlikely there will be any progress in settling a 60-year territorial dispute that has prevented the two nations from formally ending World War II hostilities.
