Talks end with Western Sahara stalemate

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The latest round of U.N.-led peace talks between Morocco and the pro-independence Polisario Front ended in stalemate Wednesday, with the two sides agreeing to try again in March to resolve a 32-year dispute for control of Western Sahara.

Darfur peacekeeping set back by 6 months

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - U.N. peacekeeping forces lack the troops and equipment necessary to improve the situation in violence-wracked Darfur and will continue to be ineffective until mid-2008, the U.N. peacekeeping chief cautioned Wednesday.
