Report: Algeria gun, mine attacks kill 9

ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) - Suspected Islamic militants attacked a police checkpoint in Algeria with rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns Sunday, killing five officers and wounding three others, according to a newspaper report.
 
Ivory Coast leader, rebel chief ink pact

OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso (AP) - Ivory Coast's president signed a peace accord with the country's main rebel leader Sunday calling for a new government to hold elections by the year's end, and for the dismantling of a vast buffer zone separating the two sides.

Eritrea denies kidnapping tourist group
