Ivory Coast leaders commended by U.N.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The Security Council and the U.N. secretary-general commended Ivory Coast's president and rebel leader Wednesday for their efforts to end a 4 1/2-year conflict and offered help to support the implementation of a March 4 peace plan.
 
U.N. says 225 Congolese rebels surrender

KINSHASA, Congo (AP) - Some 225 additional fighters loyal to a failed presidential candidate handed in their weapons and agreed to join Congo's army, doubling the number of combatants who have surrendered since fighting in the capital two weeks ago, a U.N. official said Wednesday.
