UN chief warns against Eritrean pullout

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - A new war could break out between Eritrea and Ethiopia if U.N. peacekeepers withdraw from a buffer zone along their disputed border, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warned Wednesday.

NOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania (AP) - Police in Mauritania accidentally shot and killed one civilian and wounded another Wednesday during a search for al-Qaida-linked gunmen believed connected to the killing of four French tourists in December, witnesses said.
