Kenya police make abandoned baby arrest

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Police arrested the suspected mother of an infant girl _ dubbed "Angel" by hospital officials _ who was abandoned in a Kenyan forest and reportedly rescued by a stray dog, officials said.
 
U.N. resolutions heighten Darfur tension

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - U.N. resolutions authorizing sanctions and prosecutions against perpetrators of violence in Sudan's conflict-wracked Darfur region have led to protests and increasingly dangerous tensions in the region, a U.N. official said Thursday.

Ethiopia: al-Qaida operating in Somalia

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) - Ethiopia's prime minister warned on Thursday of the danger posed by a "very active al-Qaida cell" in Somalia's capital and said a stable government is the best way to eliminate the terrorist threat in the chaotic Horn of Africa country.
