U.N. council cuts Ethiopia, Eritrea forces

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The Security Council cut the number of peacekeepers deployed in Eritrea and Ethiopia by at least one-third Wednesday night while extending the U.N. mission's mandate for another four months.
 
Darfur rebels refuse to sign peace deal

LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (AP) - A Darfur rebel group Wednesday again rejected a peace deal aimed at ending three years of fighting that has killed at least180,000 people and forced more than 2 million flee their homes in Sudan's western region.
 
At least 30 die in Nigeria road crash

IBADAN, Nigeria (AP) - A truck hauling iron rods lost control and crashed into several roadside buses as passengers were boarding in southwestern Nigeria, killing at least 30 people, police said Tuesday.
 
Fighting in Somali capital kills 13

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - Islamic militias and secular warlords resumed fighting for control of the Somali capital on Wednesday, killing at least 13 people and wounding 11 after a five-day lull, witnesses and medical workers said.
 
Images of Zimbabwe settlement released
