Former rebels attack AU forces in Darfur

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) - Former rebels who signed a peace deal with the Sudanese government opened fire on a convoy of African Union peacekeepers after a road accident in Darfur, wounding three soldiers, officials said Thursday.
 
Blair: G-8 must keep pledges to Africa

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP) - Nelson Mandela hailed Tony Blair on Thursday as "very good friend" to Africa for the priority he has given the continent, while the outgoing British prime minister called on rich countries to fulfill aid pledges to the region.
