PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair endorsed South African efforts to mediate a solution to Zimbabwe's deepening crisis on Friday, toning down denunciations of Zimbabwe's authoritiarian president.
 
Gunmen kidnap 8 oil workers in Nigeria

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria (AP) - Gunmen attacked a residential compound for foreign oil workers Friday in Nigeria's southern oil region, kidnapping eight people including women and children and killing two police officers, police said.
 
U.N.: Hundreds flee Darfur after attack

GENEVA (AP) - Hundreds of women and children fled by foot and on donkeys from Darfur to the neighboring Central African Republic after their town was attacked by planes and helicopters, the U.N. refugee agency said Friday.
 
2,464 sect suspects arrested in Kenya
