Islamic militia begins talks in Somalia

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - The Islamic militia that defeated U.S.-backed warlords and seized nearly all of southern Somalia held talks Thursday with Somalia's largely powerless government on the future of the lawless nation.
 
Breakaway factions agree to Darfur pact

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) - Breakaway factions from two rebel groups that rejected last month's peace accord for Sudan's violence-riven Darfur region signed declarations Thursday committing themselves to the pact.
 
Militants in Nigeria release 6 hostages
