U.N. official hails deal on Darfur force

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The U.N. peacekeeping chief on Wednesday called Sudan's acceptance of a joint African Union-United Nations peacekeeping force for Darfur "a significant step forward," although he cautioned "it's not the end of the road."
 
Somalia reconciliation meeting delayed

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - A national conference to help heal the wounds of 16 years of conflict in Somalia has again been postponed because some delegates will not arrive in time and the venue is not ready, a top official said Wednesday.
