Liberia lifts diamond mining moratorium

MONROVIA, Liberia (AP) - The Liberian government said Saturday it had lifted a six-year moratorium on the diamond trade, put in place after former President Charles Taylor was accused of using "blood diamonds" to fuel civil war in neighboring Sierra Leone.

SA publishers cancel 'racist' comic book

Mugabe says he will print more money

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) - President Robert Mugabe has promised to print more money to fund municipal projects, a government newspaper reported Saturday. The pledge came despite hyperinflation that has created severe shortages of cornmeal, meat, milk and other staples.
