CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) - A senior government minister defended South Africa's quiet diplomacy toward Zimbabwe, saying Tuesday that foreign intervention to bring about a regime change risked unleashing turmoil like in Iraq.
 
New plan for peace in Darfur neighbors

GENEVA (AP) - A U.N. report released Tuesday describes gruesome new details about the rapes of dozens of Darfur women last year, saying they were sexually assaulted in front of each other, beaten with sticks and forced to cook and serve food to their attackers.
 
Ugandans hold anti-gay demonstration

KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) - Hundreds of people held an anti-gay protest in Uganda's capital Tuesday, denouncing what they called an "immoral" lifestyle and demanding the deportation of an American journalist writing about gay rights in the deeply conservative country.
