57 Somalis drown in illegal boat crossing

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - Smugglers on a boat making an illegal crossing from Somalia to Yemen forced passengers into the Red Sea at gunpoint miles from shore, leaving at least 57 dead and about 100 missing, fishermen and a diplomat said Monday.

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Rangers have arrested three Kenyan men and seized 22 elephant tusks weighing 287 pounds that they tried to sell, a spokesman for the Kenya Wildlife Service said Monday.

Plane crash kills seven in eastern Congo
