Somalis protest plan for peacekeepers

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - Thousands of people massed in the capital Tuesday vowing to fight any foreign peacekeepers sent to the embattled nation, while a coalition of East African nations approved an ambitious plan to deploy troops in Somalia by early next month.
 
Humanitarian crisis possible in Sudan

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) - The U.N. secretary-general warned Tuesday that Sudan would bear full responsibility for the worsening humanitarian crisis in Darfur if African Union peacekeepers pull out by month's end because of the government's refusal to allow a U.N.-led force to take over.
 
Russia, S. Africa agree to stronger ties

Boat sinks in Congo; at least 35 dead
