Zambian president surges ahead in vote

LUSAKA, Zambia (AP) - Zambia's president, whose policies have helped boost economic growth in the southern African country, consolidated his lead Sunday in the election vote count, as police used tear gas against rioters who stormed an election center to protest the results.

Nigerian dam collapse kills up to 40
