UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The international community should deliver on promises to help Africa, while leaders there must make improvements if a development partnership for the world's poorest continent is to succeed, a U.N. report said Thursday.
 
Think tank urges sanctions against Sudan

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - The world should impose sanctions targeting Sudan's leaders and oil sector to force the government to accept U.N. peacekeepers in Darfur and halt the killing of civilians there, a leading think tank urged on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A senior U.N. official said Thursday the Sudanese government has been able to reject proposed deployment of a U.N. peacekeeping force in Darfur because the U.S. and Britain have not sold the idea to other countries.
 
U.N. pulls staff from Somalia, for now
