Hard times for wildlife in Zimbabwe

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) - The economic chaos engulfing Zimbabwe is decimating the country's once teeming wildlife, according to a conservation group, which painted a grim picture of nature reserves staffed by poorly trained rangers who cruelly kill the animals they are meant to protect.
 
Mothers fight migration in Senegal

THIAROYE, Senegal (AP) - At a funeral in this Senegalese fishing town, mothers wept for their sons _ dozens of whom drowned when the wooden craft they hoped to take to Europe was caught in a storm. Then the mothers decided to stop it from happening again.
 
193 protesters said killed in Ethiopia

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Ethiopian security forces fatally shot, beat or strangled 193 people protesting election fraud last year, triple the official death toll, a senior judge appointed to investigate the violence said Wednesday.
