Annan retains confidence in Sudan envoy

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Secretary-General Kofi Annan still has full confidence in his top envoy to Sudan who was ordered to leave the country after accusing the army of violating U.N. resolutions in the war in Darfur, the U.N. spokesman said Monday.
 
Somalian leader urges Ethiopia revolt

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - A senior leader of the Islamic militants who control much of southern Somalia urged people in neighboring Ethiopia on Monday to revolt against their government, calling it an oppressive regime led by an unpopular minority group.
 
Expelled U.N. envoy set to leave Sudan

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) - The chief U.N. envoy to Sudan planned to leave the country Monday after the government ordered him out for saying its forces had suffered two major defeats in fighting in the Darfur region, a U.N. spokeswoman said.
