U.N. aims to curb Darfur spillover

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - With the conflict in Darfur spilling into neighboring Chad and the Central African Republic, the United Nations said Friday it is sending a mission to both countries to look at operations to curb the escalating violence and help protect hundreds of thousands of civilians.
 
Eritrea denies violating cease-fire

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Eritrea rejected a United Nations accusation that its recent movement of troops near the border with Ethiopia represented a "major breach" of a cease-fire agreement between the two countries, the country's U.N. ambassador said in a letter released Friday.

Ethiopia admits deaths of 193 protesters
