KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) - The United States pressed Thursday for a speedy and fair trial for Uganda's main opposition leader, whose arrest on treason charges this week sparked two days of rioting.
 
Ex-Rwandan mayor pleads guilty to charges

ARUSHA, Tanzania (AP) - A former Rwandan mayor accused of participating in the killing of several thousand people who had sought refuge in a church pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of murder and extermination related to the 1994 genocide of more than half a million Rwandans.
