U.N. evacuates 71 workers from Darfur

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - The United Nations evacuated 71 aid workers from the largest refugee camp in Darfur Tuesday after gunmen looted their compounds, leaving some 130,000 refugees virtually without humanitarian help.

U.N. council backs hybrid Darfur force

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The U.N. Security Council gave its unanimous backing Tuesday to a hybrid U.N.-African Union force for conflict-wracked Darfur and urged all parties to quickly beef up the beleaguered African force on the ground.
