Australian PM decries U.S. 'gun culture'

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - Australia's prime minister on Tuesday said the Virginia Tech shootings showed that America's "gun culture" was a negative force in society, praising his country's efforts to enact tough gun laws after a similar massacre 11 years ago.

Girl tells of sea lion attack

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) - A 13-year-old girl said Tuesday she used kicks and punches to fend off a sea lion that attacked her as she was riding a surfboard that was being towed by a boat.
