CANBERRA, Australia (AP) - Withdrawing foreign troops from Iraq before domestic forces can handle the country's security would weaken the authority of the United States around the world, Australia's leader said Wednesday.
 
Niue handed control of cyclone funds

NADI, Fiji (AP) - The tiny Pacific state of Niue, one of the world's smallest countries, was handed control of a multimillion dollar fund by Australia and New Zealand on Wednesday to help it recover from devastation caused by a cyclone in 2004.
 
Much Australia farmland drought-stricken

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) - Australia's worst drought in a century has affected more than half of Australia's farm and ranch land, making more than 70,000 farmers eligible for special federal relief, the government said Tuesday.
