Fiji coup leader gets signs of support

SUVA, Fiji (AP) - The leader of Fiji's coup received signs of domestic support from tribal chiefs and a major opposition party Friday, but the British Commonwealth suspended the Pacific island nation in the latest international repudiation of the caretaker government.
 
Thousands battle fires in Australia

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) - Thousands of firefighters rushed to contain more than a dozen wildfires burning across southern Australia on Friday amid fears that high temperatures and gusty winds forecast this weekend could further stoke the blazes, threatening farms and towns.
 
Australia wants its troops out of Iraq
