Al-Qaida claims killing of top Egypt envoy

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Al-Qaida's wing in Iraq claimed Thursday it had killed Egypt's top envoy who was abducted by gunmen last weekend and warned it would go after "as many ambassadors as we can" to punish countries that support Iraq's U.S.-backed leadership.

Saddam Hussein's chief lawyer resigns

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Egypt will temporarily shut its diplomatic mission in Iraq and has recalled its staff to Cairo, an official said Thursday, after a militant group claimed to have killed Egypt's top envoy in Baghdad.
