Troops, extremists face off in West Bank

SANUR, West Bank (AP) - Thousands of troops pushed into two West Bank settlements Tuesday to clear out some 2,000 extremists determined to foil the last stage of Israel's historic "disengagement" from the West Bank and Gaza.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - In another dramatic last-minute standoff, Iraqi leaders put off a vote on a draft constitution Monday, adjourning parliament at a midnight deadline in a bid for three more days to win over the Sunni Arab minority whose support is key to stopping the insurgency.
 
Jordan arrests suspect in rocket attack
