Chief of Iran's nuclear program reinstated

TEHRAN, Iran, (AP) - The head of Iran's nuclear program was reinstated Monday in a sign that the country's new leadership will maintain a hard line, as French President Jacques Chirac warned that Iran's stance could force the issue before the U.N. Security Council.
 
Sunnis face dilemma on Iraq constitution

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Rebuffed in the constitution deliberations, Sunni Arabs now face a dilemma: boycott the Oct. 15 referendum on a new charter and hand the Shiites a landslide victory, or take part in a vote that demographics suggest they'll lose.
 
Sharon: Not all settlements in final deal

But a campaign of intimidation blamed on semi-nomadic Arabs known as the Janjaweed continues, and has cut so deeply into the local psyche that refugees can't shake their fear of going home.
