NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A federal judge Friday refuse to postpone the April 22 mayoral election in New Orleans, turning back arguments that too many black residents scattered by Hurricane Katrina will be unable to take part.

Chicago jail escape has political angle

CHICAGO (AP) - Chances are, when six inmates broke out of the Cook County Jail earlier this month, they didn't know they were going to be drawn into a political campaign. Then again, this being Chicago, maybe they did.
