MOSCOW (AP) - Changing the tone from tough talk to friendship, President Bush and Vladimir Putin went out of their way to take a unified stand on Middle East peace and terrorism Sunday after sharp words in recent days about democratic backsliding and postwar Soviet domination.
 
Former White House counsel Cutler dies

WASHINGTON (AP) - Lloyd Cutler, White House counsel to Presidents Carter and Clinton and adviser to presidents of both parties, died Sunday at his home in Washington. He was 87.
 
Bush remembers war dead, honors soldiers

MARGRATEN, Netherlands (AP) - Surrounded by white crosses marking the graves of American soldiers, President Bush on Sunday remembered World War II veterans who "did not live to comb gray hair" like the veterans who listened to his speech and are living through another foreign war.
