Bush, S. Korea try to bridge differences

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush and South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun pressed North Korea to rejoin deadlocked talks on its nuclear weapons program on Friday and tried to minimize their own differences over how hard to push the reclusive communist regime.

Poll: Bush job approval dips to new low

WASHINGTON (AP) - When it comes to public approval, President Bush and Congress are playing "how low can you go." Bush's approval mark is 43 percent, while Congress checks in at 31 percent, an Associated Press-Ipsos poll found. Both are the lowest levels yet for the survey, started in December 2003.

Bush campaigns for Patriot Act renewal

McLEAN, Va. (AP) - President Bush campaigned on Friday against weakening the Patriot Act, saying Congress must renew parts of the counterterrorism law that are set to expire on behalf of those "on the front line" of the fight to avert new attacks.

May budget deficit declines sharply
