IRS not doing enough on ID theft

WASHINGTON (AP) - Fraudulent tax returns filed as a result of identity theft jumped more than sixfold over the past five years, but the Internal Revenue Service rarely pursues or prosecutes such cases, a Treasury Department watchdog said in a report released Tuesday.

Congress wants prosecution for assaults

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Justice Department has not prosecuted any cases involving sexual assaults against civilians who work for contractors in Iraq or Afghanistan, despite a law giving it that authority, according to written testimony submitted to a Senate subcommittee.
