J&J discloses possible improper payments

NEW BRUNSWICK N.J. (AP) - Some Johnson & Johnson subsidiaries outside the U.S. may have made improper payments in connection with the sale of medical devices in two small-market countries, the company said Monday.

Its shares rose on the news.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Fast-food giant Yum Brands Inc. said Monday that fourth-quarter profits grew 3 percent as strong international sales offset a sagging performance by Taco Bell amid an E. coli outbreak that sickened several dozen customers at some of its East Coast restaurants.
 
Rift between Coke, some bottlers eases

ATLANTA (AP) - A rift between The Coca-Cola Co. and some bottlers has been eased as the world's largest beverage maker announced Monday that several suits over its plan to distribute Powerade to Wal-Mart stores directly through the retailer's warehouses were being dropped. Coca-Cola also said it will work with the bottlers "to develop and test new customer service and distribution systems."
 
Four Seasons to go private in $3.4B deal

CtW Investment Group and Institutional Shareholder Services joined two other advisers who say Caremark's board and managers have not tried to get the best deal for shareholders.
 
Boeing unveils modified 767 aircraft

WASHINGTON (AP) - Boeing Co. on Monday announced a newly designed KC-767 as its proposed aircraft for a $40 billion Air Force contract competition to replace 179 refueling planes. The Chicago-based company said at a press conference that it tweaked the design of its long-range 767 freighter plane to improve fuel efficiency and allow it to take off and land on shorter runways, giving it greater flexibility in combat situations.
 
Pinnacle Foods agrees to $1.3B buyout
