NEW YORK (AP) - A new Associated Press calculation shows that compensation for America's top CEOs has skyrocketed into the stratospheric heights of pro athletes and movie stars: Half make more than $8.3 million a year, and some make much, much more.

NEW YORK (AP) - A handful of CEOs in the AP executive pay list take home a salary of $1 a year or less. But all of them manage to make millions anyway, illustrating the point that if you're running the show, your salary doesn't mean much.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The nation's top securities regulator says he is generally satisfied that new disclosure rules are giving investors a clearer picture of how much public companies are paying top executives and provide useful insight into the reasoning underlying compensation awards.
