S.Korea finds bones in U.S. beef order

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - South Korea said Friday it would suspend imports of beef from a U.S. slaughterhouse after inspectors found three bone fragments in a shipment, a violation of an agreement related to mad cow disease.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Dissident General Motors Corp. shareholder Kirk Kerkorian appears to be walking away from his quest to shape the future of the troubled automaker. The Wall Street Journal, citing a person familiar with the matter, reported Thursday on its Web site that the billionaire investor sold his entire remaining investment in GM _ 28 million shares _ at $29.95 a share, a transaction worth more than $800 million.

TOKYO (AP) - Japanese stocks rose on a string of positive economic data Friday morning. The dollar fell against the yen. The benchmark Nikkei 225 stock index rose 77.73 points, or 0.48 percent, to 16,352.06 points at the end of morning session. The index rose 198.13 points, or 1.23 percent, the day before.
