Gift cards can carry fees, even expire

NEW YORK (AP) - More people are giving gift cards to friends and relatives at the holidays, but those who give the cards and those who get them should be aware that they're not completely consumer friendly. Fees and expiration dates can trip up unwary users, and there can be problems replacing lost cards.

NEW YORK (AP) - It might seem obvious that charitable work or donations to a cause are good things for small companies to do _ they need to show their communities they care about their neighbors. So, what about the ones who purposefully pair their altruism with hopes of generating new business _ does that negate the good will?
