Covington says he's grateful to Cowell

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - While some "American Idol" contestants might fear Simon Cowell's biting criticism, Bucky Covington says he's grateful for it. "Because of him being mean, millions of people watch that show," said Covington, who finished eighth last season. "So I say `thank you' for being mean. You turned on a lot of people to this show, and because of that a lot of great things happened to me."

Russert on the other side of the news

NEW YORK (AP) - Tim Russert made it onto the evening news on Wednesday _ and not just on NBC. The "Meet the Press" host's key testimony at the perjury trial of former vice presidential aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was covered on all three network evening newscasts, although Russert was less visible on ABC and CBS.

V-me: A new Spanish-language network

NEW YORK (AP) - A new Spanish-language network featuring public-TV fare and other programming with an educational focus will go on the air March 5 in several U.S. cities with large Hispanic populations, the network announced Wednesday.
