'Dog' loses extradition battle in Mexico

GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) - A federal court cleared the way for TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman to be extradited to face charges in Mexico, but the decision can still be appealed.

NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) - Anna Nicole Smith's longtime partner is in shock over her death but her 5-month-old daughter is doing well, a friend of the couple said Friday. Eric Gibson spoke to reporters after visiting the ocean front mansion where Howard K. Stern, an attorney who represented Smith in various legal battles and starred on her reality TV show, has secluded himself.
 
Michael Richards won't attend mock trial

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Comedian Michael Richards won't attend a weekend mock trial with four black people he targeted during his racial rant at a comedy club because the gathering is open to the media and amounts to a publicity stunt, his lawyer said Friday. Attorney Douglas Mirell said any meeting between Richards and the three men and one woman should be private.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Nicole Richie was charged Friday with misdemeanor driving under the influence. In addition to the single count, the case contains an allegation that Richie had a prior misdemeanor DUI conviction in June 2003, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said.

James Gandolfini, who plays the Mafia boss on the Emmy and Peabody-winning HBO series "The Sopranos," was surrounded by lawmen when he arrived in New Orleans to begin his reign over one of the city's biggest Mardi Gras parades. His limousine was escorted by 10 motorcycle officers and two police cars.

Will 'Lost' ratings plunge doom series?

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The show was smart and intriguingly spiked with supernatural and sci-fi twists. It featured hot new stars who graced glossy magazine covers _ until the ratings tumbled. So much for "The X-Files," which enjoyed a nine-year run before misguided plots and a time slot change eroded its appeal. Flash forward to today and you'll find its counterpart in "Lost," another spooky, cerebral, sexy show _ which may end up killed off before its time.
